Nonlocal conductivity in the vortex-liquid regime of a two-dimensional superconductor.
We have simulated the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation with thermal fluctuations, to study the nonlocal dc conductivity of a superconducting film. Having examined points in the phase diagram at a wide range of temperatures and fields below the mean-field upper critical field, we find a portion of the vortex-liquid regime in which the nonlocal ohmic conductivity in real space is negative ...
متن کاملObservation of two-dimensional nonlocal gap solitons.
We demonstrate, both theoretically and experimentally, the existence of nonlocal gap solitons in two-dimensional periodic photonic structures with defocusing thermal nonlinearity. We employ liquid-infiltrated photonic crystal fibers and show how the system geometry can modify the effective response of a nonlocal medium and the properties of two-dimensional gap solitons.
متن کاملTwo-Dimensional Gas of Disks: Thermal Conductivity
The phenomenon of heat conduction in a two-dimensional gas of N hard disks is studied in the hydrostatic regime by means of nonequilibrium molecular dynamics (N ranging from 100 to 8000). For systems with N>~I500 the temperature and density profiles observed are in excellent agreement with the continuous theory, but the conductivity k differs from the one derived from Enskog's theory in a syste...
متن کاملNonlocal conductivity in type-II superconductors.
Multiterminal transport measurements on YBCO crystals in the vortex liquid regime have shown nonlocal conductivity on length scales up to 50 microns. Motivated by these results we explore the wavevector (k) dependence of the dc conductivity tensor, σμν(k), in the Meissner, vortex lattice, and disordered phases of a type-II superconductor. Our results are based on time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau ...
متن کاملStability of two-dimensional spatial solitons in nonlocal nonlinear media.
We discuss the existence and stability of two-dimensional solitons in media with spatially nonlocal nonlinear response. We show that such systems, which include thermal nonlinearity and dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates, may support a variety of stationary localized structures, including rotating dipole solitons. We also demonstrate that the stability of these structures critically depends on t...
